Battlefield Portal is the secret game mode
Since the reveal of Battlefield 2042, DICE kept one of the game modes a secret. The Gamerant site revealed ahead of time this mode, which will be called Battlefield Portal.
In essence, this mode is a Sandbox that will allow any user to build and share game modes using resources from the following past installments:
- Battlefield 1942
- Battlefield Bad Company 2
- Battlefield 3
In addition to that, the mode brings back the following classic maps from the franchise:
- Caspian Border (Battlefield 3)
- Noshahr Canals (Battlefield 3)
- Battle of the Bulge (Battlefield 1942)
- El Alamein (Battlefield 1942)
- Arica Harbor (Bad Company 2)
- Valparaiso (Bad Company 2)
These maps can be used in custom games and all their resources have been rebuilt with the Frostbite graphics engine. On older maps, such as those from Battlefield 1942, new destruction mechanics have been implemented.
In the following infographic we can see a summary of all the content that this section will offer:
The mode also includes a rules modifier to manipulate the modes at will and give them a unique touch.
When is Battlefield 2042 coming out?
